THE SCHOOL
UMCA RICH TREE ACADEMY is an independent private day school for students from Kindergarten through Grade 8.
We offer a unique learning environment designed to meet the child’s individual needs and encourage each student to pursue integrity and excellence.
UMCA RICH TREE ACADEMY provides a curriculum above and beyond the guidelines of the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training. In fact, our curriculum is unlike any in North America.
UMCA’s GIFTED EDUCATION program provides an opportunity for high performance capability in the intellectual areas, specific academic fields, or both.
The School maintains high academic standards to ensure that our students succeed in post-secondary endeavors. Our curriculum meets and exceeds the requirements of the province of Ontario. Smaller classes ensure individual attention.

THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
In the UMCA learning environment we work not only with the potential of the child’s abilities and interests, but with values and needs as well. In doing so, UMCA maintains an atmosphere of a family environment, providing:

THE EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAM
Extracurricular Program UMCA RICH TREE ACADEMY gifted department is implemented by the use of scaffolding, compacting and differentiating curriculum to modify for the bright, high achieving child. Class size caps at 8-10.
All of UMCA RICH TREE ACADEMY students study four languages: English, Russian, French, and optional Hebrew immersion.
All other subject instruction is given in English. The students are encouraged to speak in elevated, distinct, formal English as modeled by their teachers and caregivers. The English used in the English department is the Standard English spoken by highly articulate teachers for whom English is a first language and mother tongue. A description of This has resulted in astounding success and proven results where students at UMCA RICH TREE ACADEMY are fluent in English conversation, grade level/ benchmark reading and spelling by the latter part of the first grade year, although students have previously been immersed in their own first language and mother tongue.
UMCA RICH TREE ACADEMY offers enhanced extracurricular activities, in keeping with the philosophical view that each child is gifted in some area and should be offered the opportunity to explore and discover true strengths, interests and abilities, and experience developing the competencies they need.
Students are required to take Music Theory and Choral Music classes. Such practice serves for a twofold purpose of opening up Mathematical learning and fortifying Math skills. Complementary to these are: Laptop Workshops. These workshops bring introduction to the world of computers, training for presentations, tools for enhanced writing and searches.
Gifted students qualify for individualized instruction in a state of the art computer school off campus using Corel Draw graphic application.
UMCA Rich Tree Academy offers a variety of field trips, including: concerts of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra , showings at the Art Gallery of Ontario and McMichael Gallery of Kleinburg, home of The Group Of Seven works, Royal Ontario Museum and the Ontario Science Center.
