About Preschool

Preschool forms the foundation of a child’s education and that’s why we take it so seriously. At UMCA Rich Tree Academy, our curriculum goes far beyond the Ministry of Education’s requirements and aims to provide children with the building blocks required to ensure their time in education is as successful as possible.

Our youngest students are prepared for life in school via the utilization of the most effective learning techniques. At the forefront of what our kindergarten department does is gentle encouragement. Our students learn to focus on activities and exhibit executive function skills which will prepare them for the transition to elementary school.

Our Philosophy

At UMCA Rich Tree Academy, we offer:

  • An opportunity for the child to develop his/her feelings of self-worth through positive reinforcement; the recognition of personal
    choice, and respect for the child’s feelings and opinion;
  • An opportunity for the child to actively explore, problem solve, discuss, discover, create, and master the real world of things, people, and events;
  • A rich and varied cultural diversity – a multicultural environment. We believe that self-esteem and self-worth are enhanced by
    incorporating each child’s cultural heritage into the curriculum so that all children benefit from a multicultural education;

  • A curriculum that values equality of the sexes and promotes a non-sexist point of view;
  • A spirit of cooperation in relationships with children and adults has the opportunity to develop. Adults display an unconditional positive regard for the child and a sincere interest
    each child’s uniqueness;
  • Encouragement for appropriate behaviors through positive reinforcement based on social responsibility and respect for others;
  • A program that encourages enjoyment and satisfaction as ends
    in themselves and asmotivation for further learning.
