Holocaust Remembrance Month

This month we are commemorating the holocaust. Mr. Mark and Mrs. Violetta, each one in his class will bring up this subject as it is a very important part in world history and in some of our students’ private family history. If your child approaches you regarding this subject, we encourage facilitating a discussion.

Student’s Record Update

We wish to remind you to send us a copy of your child’s passport or birth certificate as we must update the Ontario student record. This information is confidential and needs to be sent to sara@umca.ca.

Hanukkah Celebration

Please note that on December 10th we will celebrate Hanukkah with Sufganiot and candles lighting (all with having covid-19 guidelines in effect).

Students Must Check EVERY Subject on the Website

We have noticed that there are some students who never logged in to some of their subjects on the UMCA website. We wish to emphasize once again it is MANDATORY to login to each and every subject you have in your account. This is where you can see what you have for homework, as well as check your marks, and teachers’ messages. We kindly ask you to make it your small project this weekend to sit with your child and check if they are checking ALL their subjects.

Health and Sexual Education

We are happy to let you know that in December we will start with a one hour per week of health and sexual education for our grades 5-8. The instructor will be Mrs. Dorian Kolinas.

Holidays’ Timetable

For those of you who like to plan ahead, please check below the upcoming holidays, in which the school is closed. We wish to remind you that if you go out of the country on a holiday, by law, you must quarantine for 14 days after your return.

  • Winter break: December 21st, 2020 – January 1st, 2021 (first day back to school after Christmas break is January 4th, 2021)
  • Family Day: February 15th, 2021.
  • The School will be open during March Break from March 15th until March 19th, 2021. (8:00-6:00.)
  • Easter: April 2nd – 5th, 2021.
  • Victoria Day: May 24th, 2021.
  • When scheduling family vacations, please remember that May 15 – June 15 is an exam and graduations.

 Text Message for Pickup

We wish to remind you once again that parents are not allowed in the school. Therefore, when coming to pick up your kids, please text to 647-200-0139We kindly ask you to text and not to call. We have around 150 pickup messages during pick up time, and answering every call slows down the process and makes it impossible to get your children on time. When we get your message, we answer with an “ok.” Only if you do not see the reply within a couple of minutes, then call.

UMCA wishes you all a wonderful weekend!!!

Take A Tour

We welcome your child and you to take a tour of our school to experience first-hand the sense of community, the enthusiasm and involvement of our students in learning, and the dedication of our teaching team.
