UMCA School Newsletter September 11, 2020

Logging In

All our students have a personal account in Office 365 and in our UMCA Moodle. In our Moodle, you can find your courses, your marks, and can send messages to your teachers. All new students received in the past weeks an email from Microsoft “on behalf of your organization”. In that email, you have your child’s username and password. Please follow these steps to log in:

  1. Go on your browser to Office 365 Log In
  2. Put your username and password which you’ve received in the email from Microsoft
  3. Once you are logged in you will see different icons, the ‘Outlook’ icon is for emails, the ‘OneDrive’ icon is for documents.
  4. Open a new tab and go to umca.ca (close the COVID-19 window)
  5. Click on “Log In” at the top bar (an error announcement might appear, click on “continue”)
  6. Now you are inside the Moodle in your personal account. On the left side of the screen you will see the courses you are taking.
  7. Click on the course name, and it will take you to the home page of that specific course. There you can find every week an update from the teacher about the work done in class, and the homework given. When clicking on “grades” you will find the student’s marks.

UMCA T-Shirt

Most students received their UMCA sport t-shirt yesterdayThose who didn’t receive it yet will get it next week. If you didn’t receive your UMCA backpack, please see Ms. Sara. Please write your child’s name on it, as they tend to lose it very often. You must bring your sport’s outfit every day (the UMCA t-shirt, sports shoes, and sweatpants/comfortable pants for work out).

Each child must bring his/her own water bottle (plastic, not glass) filled with fresh water every day. Please label your child’s water bottle.

Outdoor Activity

At UMCA we believe that outdoor activity is as important as academic achievements. Especially nowadays, when students must wear a face mask inside the facility, outside activity is a great way to take off the mask and breath fresh air. Therefore, weather permitted, we plan outdoor time every day to breathe fresh air and enjoy recess time outside. Please dress up your child according to the weather (in summer: a hat, sunscreen, in the winter: a hat, gloves, winter jacket, boots, scarf, etc.).

Phones/Electronic Games

Grade 1-6 are NOT allowed phones at school under any circumstances. Please don’t bring any electronic games to school, cell phones or electronic games will be confiscated if found. Please make sure your child is not bringing to school any Pokémon cards and other games. Grade 7 & 8 students may keep a cell phone in their lockers for after school use only.

Classes end at 4:00 pm. School closes at 6:30 pm. Please come to pick up your child only after classes end. We would like to ask you to be punctual and bring your child to school before classes start. Students who are late interrupt the lesson and distract the other students. Please be on time.
